New Delhi : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ashutosh on Sunday said that efforts were made to remove Arvind Kejriwal from the national convener’s post after the party’s dismal show in the Lok Sabha polls last year. When asked to comment on his book ‘The Crown Prince, The Gladiator and The Hope’ in which he has written that Kejriwal broke down after AAP’s Lok Sabha debacle, Ashutosh said that he didn’t want the issues to go in the public or media as it would have affected the party’s image.

He added it was clear that efforts were being made to remove Kejriwal from the national convener’s post. “When Arvind stood up during the meeting, he suddenly broke down in tears and said I have fought against Robert Vadra, Narendra Modi and the government but I can’t fight with my own people,” Ashutosh told. “He (Kejriwal) said that he can’t fight against Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan and he was not in politics to become the national convener,” he added.

Ashutosh further said that senior party leader Shanti Bhushan wrote a letter in which he said if Yogendra Yadav won’t be made the national convener then he will call a press conference in which he will destroy the party. After the meeting when Kejriwal went back home, he even decided about leaving politics after discussing it with his family,” he added. Earlier this week, the AAP national executive took the decision of removing senior leaders Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav from the PAC.
