New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party MP Bhagwant Mann on Thursday ignited a row by uploading on Facebook a video of his visit to Parliament House, which included going past the various security pickets.

The BJP immediately latched onto the issue and charged that Mann had put Parliament House’s security in peril. Following the outcry, the person in-charge of Parliament’s security reported the matter to the Speaker who has sought a report on the alleged security breach.

However, Mann was unperturbed by the criticism and said that he would post another video on social media the next day. “I will post another video tomorrow; let me be served a notice.”

“Kya mere video se sansad khatre me aa gaya (Has Parliament been imperiled because of my video),” Mann asked, when confronted by the media.

Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy and BJP MP R K Singh, a former union home secretary, termed Mann’s act of uploading the 11-minute video on the social site as “highly irresponsible” which cannot be taken lightly, particularly since there has been a terrorist attack on Parliament.

After the video went viral, Mann clarified: “First thing first, the video only shows how Parliament functions. People elected me and they have a right to know all this. I did not breach any rule. I came in my own car and did not enter without authorization.”

He said that he also wanted to show the public how questions for Zero Hour are sorted in the Central Hall before the day’s proceedings begin.

But the BJP MPs were not amused and pointed out that the video on Facebook compromises Parliament’s security as it shows the approach to the premises, the security pickets and the internal security positions in the Parliament House building that can help the terrorists. Delhi BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi said, “It needs to be verified if this was an act of foolishness or was done under the influence of some agencies.” She also wanted to know whether Mann involved in any terrorist activity.
