Barbeque Nation is holding a ‘Skewers festival’ across its 13 outlets in Mumbai. The chain is offering its customers to indulge in some perfectly grilled skewers and tantalizing dips, until March 31.
Our experience
This week we stopped at Barbeque Nation’s Bandra outlet to gorge on some hot-off-the-coal delicacies.
For the inexperienced, Barbeque Nation has live-on-the-table grill concept with a selection of sauces and marinades, and the server brings out skewers to place on the grill. Talking about the festival, for vegetarians it has Paneer angara, Kasundi potato, Spice fire ball, Mediterrian grill veg and dhaniyari kumb. While for non-vegetarian starters it has Peshawari tangri, Thai chicken, parsley fish, Chilly garlic prawns and Caribbean lamb kofta.
From the non-vegetarian starter selection, we loved the Thai chicken and Caribbean lamb kofta which was equally soft and luscious.
Apart from the grills, the appetiser selection of the festival also has live cooking station, whereas chefs are seen cooking different types of dals. We proceeded to the buffet which boasted of Lahsooni crab curry, Murgh bagdadi, Hot and sour fish curry and Bhuna Gosht. While for vegetarians it has Kadhai paneer, Nilgirikofta curry and veg poriyal, among others. If you are looking for some oriental flavours, you can try the burnt garlic noodles and seasonal vegetables in hot garlic sauce.
We tried Bhuna Gosht with garlic naan, the thick curry was mildly spiced with the gosht perfectly cooked and tender.
The chef makes it a point to personally drop by every table and inquire diners about the food and their experience. If he notices you having less food he comes up with some innovative dish specially curated for you. The chef leaves no stone unturned when it comes to curating the buffet menu. Also, the server at our table kept on insisting us to try every available dish by saying, “Aapne toh kuch khaya he nahi!”
Though the starters and appetisers are beyond scrumptious, we advise you to leave some room for the desserts. Dessert-lovers can satiate their taste buds with Mango fruit tart, Kiwi cheesecake, Chocolate tart, Kulfi and Kesar phirni.
All we can say is the ‘Skewers Festival’ manages to experience the thrill of grill in a true way and the fest is worth a visit.
