Check out the new restaurant in Andheri – Mirabella Bar & Kitchen

Service is attentive, portions are good and pricing is reasonable considering they offer international gourmet dishes, writes Gita Hari.

Andheri gets one more new restaurant for foodies and night crawlers to hang out – Mirabella Bar & Kitchen, owned by dynamic impresario Swaraaj Kapoor and ably managed by sprightly twosome Suved Lohia and Dharmesh Karmokar.

You just can’t seem to have enough of quaint eateries and this European-style café coupled with a chic resto-bar exudes global music along with lip-smacking food in a lush, verdant ambiance. As we walked into the restaurant a cool, garden-like feel pervaded us in the spacious and cosy restaurant. But there was more to come by way of a Lounge and Bar. The café where we dined sported a vibrant and cheerful, airy look. Butterfly seating brings a cheer to our face as we settle in the cozy comforts of Mirabella.

The bar puts forth a carefully crafted cocktail menu. Lime juice gets replaced in Tamarind Chilli Margarita and when the essence of tamarind and hot chilli infuse tequila, it is quite a kick! Or if you like your margarita frozen or on the rocks, try Corronitto with a mini beer bottle flipped upside down. Cinnamon Twist lends a spicy hint in your drink. Some of the barman’s specials are Drunk Maghai Paan, Chattar Mattar and Tikki Geisha. There is a surprise for sheesha fans as we found some guests puffing away.

Cuisine is European, Mediterranean and Asian. We loved the Alu Tuk Chaat for its balanced zing and Veg Galouti kebab with presented on coin parotta and kachumbar salad scored high on our appetizer list for its melt-in-the-mouth texture created out of yam and plantain. The mildly herbed Chicken tikka Tacos with salsa sauce and Baida Roti did Mirabella style were relished by my non-veg friend. Rainbow Bagels are a treat for the eyes and come loaded with yummy cream cheese.

For sandwich lovers Mutton Galouti Slider with raw mango sumtom and tomato apricot chutney is a must-have. Pastas, pizza, Eggs Benedict and sandwiches are available here. Roasted pumpkin soup with cheese straws did us good to beat the wet weather. For a healthy main course, the al-dente Mushroom Barley Risotto was creamy and just right. The filling and tasty Tandoori Chicken with cous cous is recommended for its flavoursome preparation. We called for mocktails and Peach Please and Blue Heavens (fizzy) stood out for their deliciousness and refreshing tang.

Tofu Thai Red Curry with steamed rice or Chinese Box of Noodles, street-style veg/chicken sauce, fried rice is what you must order if you are fond of oriental aromas. On the Indian front, Madras Curry sauce is spicy and Mirabella’s Lunch Box consists of Butter Chicken/paneer, smoked tadka Daal, Malabar paratha. Raspberry Rose Chia Pudding is irresistibly yummy or Darjeeling Tea Pannacotta is try-worthy for the mild tea aroma. Japanese cheesecake and Baked flourless chocolate flan are available as well. Service is attentive, portions are good and pricing is reasonable considering they offer international gourmet dishes. Mirabella is a fun place to hang out with your bunch of cronies!
