This Diwali, send a smile, online!

Why stand in the queue to buy a gift, asks Shillpi A Singh. Just choose any of these gifting options, click to pay and send it to the person and say Happy Diwali

The season of celebration is here, and so are the reasons for gifting. But this year around, chuck the mundane gifting options and go online instead. Online gifts are easy to buy, all that one has to do is choose, pay and gift at just the click of a button, and are much easier to gift as the delivery worries and logistic issues are minimised. The best part is that they can be customised as per one’s needs, wallet, and occasion. These options look good, make you feel better and even last longer. What more does one need?

“Gifting as a gesture helps in connecting people. Traditional gifting is limited to one’s capability to reach out personally to his or her near and dear ones. Online gifting expands the outreach and is a seamless and hassle-free process to send gifts to a loved one across cities, states, and even countries,” says Vivek Gupta, CEO and Co-Founder, The site has emotions of gifting, can be customised and personalised, and can be delivered to anyone, anywhere, anytime. “All that is required by the user is to choose the occasion, enter receiver’s details, personalise the greeting and make the payment. The receiver receives an email or SMS with a claim code, which can be used to redeem the amount at Storecheq,” says Gupta.

Go cash-less
The other useful gifting option that has been around for quite some time is the bank gift card that is like just another card but comes preloaded with a specified amount as desired by the gift sender. Most of the banks offer these gift cards in collaboration with payment processors. “It is better to give a gift card than hand over cash in an envelope. The card money has a fewer chance of getting wasted. It is used for some meaningful purchase,” says Mumbai-based Sonali Kumar, wife of a banker who prefers to use these gift cards to show her love and care on such festive occasions. The recipient of a bank gift card can check card’s balance at any bank’s ATM or do it online as well, and if it is co-branded gift cards, then it can be redeemed at multiple retailers, restaurants, etc.

The corporate houses go all out to reach out to their employees, customers, and partners to celebrate and share their good wishes, especially on Diwali. “Online gifting addresses all these issues. For example, Storecheq has introduced Corporate Gifting with “Storecheq Rewards” which takes away the hassles of gifting. Another key feature of Storcheq Rewards is that the companies using Storecheq’s corporate gifts can keep track of the gifts being distributed. It will save the companies from multiple corporate gifting issues like product pilferage, additional spending, gifts not being appreciated by employees, so on and so forth,” quips Gupta.

Another gifting platform like Qwikcilver offers exciting gifting options through its portal and mobile app, Woohoo. “I was happy to send a personalised gift card in a jiffy to my mother and that too on WhatsApp, and that’s so cool,” says Bengaluru based techie Ankita Sinha, who used the mobile app to send a diwali gift to her mother in Patna through Woohoo. It enables a user to send personalised, instant gift cards, gift vouchers, and e-gift cards from more than 100 brands but if the user is unsure about the recipient’s preference of the brand, then a Woohoo gift card is the best bet. It does not just end there. If you are looking for corporate gifts for your employees, partners, customers, then bulk orders for corporate gift cards are also available. “With a corporate gift card, you are gifting your employees the power of choice with 150+ brands,” says Nikunj Prakash, who is completely smitten by the new-age gifting options that the site offers.

Instant satisfaction

Vouchagram’s Digital Code Management System is a ZERO error ecosystem that makes gifting easy and spill-proof. Its myGyFTR is a group gifting platform which allows individual and group gifting to friends, family, and colleagues without any hassle and that too in three easy steps. “One can set up a group gift, invite friends/family members to chip in and choose from multiple options in gifting for the receiver, track the progress of the contribution as well as gift’s delivery on the chosen date and time. It saves a lot of time and money. It is fun to gift together to celebrate together,” says Mumbai-based Shraddha Sharma, who uses this group gifting option for family and friends.
