What is genetic testing?

Genetic testing also known as DNA testing helps individual to understand changes in chromosomes, genes, or proteins. In humans, genetic testing can be used to determine a child’s parentage (genetic mother and father) or in general a person’s ancestry or biological relationship between people. Gene tests look for abnormalities in DNA taken from a person’s blood, body fluids or tissues. The tests can look for large mistakes such as a gene that has a section missing or added. Other tests look for small changes within the DNA. Other mistakes that can be found include genes that are too active, genes that are turned off, or those that are lost entirely.

Our habits have hereditary component whose information is coded in our genome, the DNA sequence that forms the building block our cells.

Over the period advances in the field of genetics and technology have made it possible to the genectic variants. Studio 23 is a partner with Mapmygenome, which are pioneers of this technology in India.
