In the last week there have been more than a dozen incidents of fire reported from across the globe. And the number of lives that have been lost to fire should set the alarm bells ringing. The issue of fire safety is a very serious issue and must not be treated lightly. In the recent few years Mumbai has blossomed, there has been a humongous rise in the number of pubs and restaurants and also infrastructure.

Fire is a tragedy that can happen anywhere and the biggest challenge in such a scenario is the evacuation process. And for this reason the fire department officials visit the premises and issue an no-objection certificate (NOC) to places which meet the fire safety guidelines. However, nothing guarantees that there won’t be any fire incidents even if all the fire safety guidelines are followed to the T.

In the wake of recent incidents here are a list of things that you can do in case of a fire.

If there is smoke in the air, stay low to the ground, especially your head, to reduce inhalation exposure. Keep on hand on the wall to prevent disorientation and crawl to the nearest exit.
