Veteran Marathi stage and film actor Vijay Chavan, who passed away on Friday morning at the age of 63, was cremated later in the day. Vijay Chavan’s last rites were performed at Mulund’s crematorium. To pay him last tribute, many Marathi celebs like Ankush Chaudhari, Mahesh Kothare, Bharat Jadhav and others attended his last rites.
The actor’s demise has sent the entire Marathi film industry into shock. Following a prolonged illness, the renowned Marathi actor took his last breath at Fortis Hospital, Mulund.
Vijay Chavan acted in many Marathi films and plays such as ‘Jatra’, ‘Zapatlela’, ‘Pachadlele’, ‘Mumbaicha Dabewala’, and ‘Shrimanta Damodar Panta’. Notably, his role of Mavshi in popular Marathi play, ‘Moruchi Mavshi’ has always been remembered as one of the iconic characters in the history of Marathi theatre. The actor has worked in over 350 films both Hindi and Marathi.
Vijay Chavan worked with most popular Marathi actors like Ashok Saraf, Laxmikant Berde, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Mahesh Manjrekar and others.
