There are those who would kill to be a Kapoor, but actress Vidya Balan is not one of them. The actress who is married to top film producer Siddharth Roy Kapur has no interest to change her name officially to one of the prestigious names in Bollywood.
“I don’t think I want to change my name. My address changed, for the better. I’d never lived with anyone before so I wondered how it would be to share the same space, but we’re quite alike, so it’s fun,” says “Kahaani” actress when asked about some of her “shaadike side effects” by fellow co-star Neha Dhupia’s radio show. Apparently, the actress is not comfortable with any last other name, irrespective of the surname’s status quo. Years back, when Vidya had back-to-back successful films like “No One Killed Jessica”, “The Dirty Picture” and “Kahaani”, she was called a Khan, which did not sit with her well.
“At a press conference after ‘The Dirty Picture’ Ekta (Kapoor) called me Vidya Balan Khan and that became a thing. At that point I didn’t realize what it meant and I turned around and said, I am Balan, you can probably call them whatever Balan instead,” elucidates Vidya.
The last time Vidya yelled “helooooooo Mumbai”, even Munna Bhai became an honest man. This time Vidya has decided to “entertain” us again as a kinky radio jockey in her upcoming movie, “Tumhari Sulu”. She plays a housewife who ends up as a night RJ on a popular radio station and her new job changes her life. The movie also stars, Neha Dhupia as Vidya’s Boss, and renowned RJ, Malishka, as Albeli Anjali.
