Bollywood urges audience to watch the movie only in theatres and not promote piracy.

The film, UDTA PUNJAB has been surrounded by controversy from the time of its announcement. Earlier, the censor cuts, then the film title and the court case and finally when the film is about to release on 17th June, it got leaked on torrents.
Earlier also, Aamir Khan had expressed his opinion about the censorship issue of the film, Aamir said, “It’s very unfortunate. I’m pained that the film is going through this. As per my knowledge, it is based on drug addiction and delivers a social message. I don’t think there is anything that should be cut or audience should be kept away.”Aamir recently unveiled his muscular look in his upcoming film DANGAL, a biopic on Indian wrestler Mahaveer Phogat.He is currently in Ludhiana as DANGAL is all set to kick-start the next schedule.
Udta Punjab’s lead actors Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and many others form the film fraternity also took to Twitter requesting people not to waste their 2 years of hard work by downloading the leaked prints.
Alia Bhatt’s very first co-star, Varun Dhawan tweeted, “A big #dishoom to the Pirates. Go watch #UdtaPunjab only in the theatre.” Actor Arjun Kapoor too spoke about it on twitter, Viruses in the Udta Punjab online leaked links that crashes systems!!!What a way to fight this disgusting menace!!! #PiracyDiMaaDi’”
However, soon the download links were “removed due to a copyright complaint”, the websites read.
Earlier also, Anurag Kashyap’s film UGLY faced a similar situation. The film was gearing up to release with the promotions in place and just a few weeks before the release date, the film got leaked on torrents for illegal download. Hence the makers decided to pre-pone the release of the film by a week so people could watch it in theatres. Films like SAIRAT and Nawazuddin’s MANJHI: THE MOUNTAIN MAN also were leaked which in turn hampered the business of the film.
Udta Punjab has been passed with A certificate and will hit the theatres tomorrow. The film stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles.
