Actor Sanjay Dutt is finally returning to the big screen, but in a predictable story. Following in the footsteps of his former female contemporaries like Sridevi and Raveena Tandon, Sanju baba has now donned the role of the male protector.”I know all of these actresses have played the protector, but a father’s protection is always very different. But I had decided long back that for my comeback film had to have a strong message,” says Sanjay.
‘Bhoomi’ is based on the relationship between a father and daughter and after his daughter’s (Aditi Rao Haydri) sexual assault, Sanjay embarks on a revenge journey. Sanjay did admit that for his role, he took inspiration from his real-life relations.”Everything is an inspiration for your role. You do try to take as much as you can from your real life. My relationship with Maanayata and my children helped me. Apart from that I even looked back at Priya’s relation with my father, that was also very similar,” Sanjay adds.
Talking about shooting his first film after completing his jail term the actor says, “I was very nervous on the first day, but when the first shot was okay, I got into the rhythm. People were very cooperative and understanding, we enjoyed a lot. I just pray, with all your blessings, the movie does well.”
But if given a chance, Baba would want to return as masked vigilante. “After my release, one role I really wanted to do was of Batman,” jokes Sanjay.
