> Mukesh was born in Delhi (India) in the year 1923 on 22nd July to Zorawar Chand Mathur, an engineer, and Chand Rani (mother). He was the sixth in a family of ten children.
> He was not good and studies, and left education after SSC.
> His first job was with the Department of Public Works in Delhi. As a hobby, he also experimented with voice recordings during those days.
> Before making a career as a Playback singer in Hindi cinema, Mukesh first made a acting debut in the film ‘Nirdosh’ in the year 1941. He also sang the song “Dil Hi Bujha Hua Ho To” for the movie.
> He got his break as a playback singer in 1945 with the film “Pehli Nazar”. Post which, he has sung around 1,300 songs.
Along with Mohammad Rafi, Manna Dey and Kishore Kumar, he was one of the most popular and legendary singers of his era.
