For the dream song ‘Udanchoo…’ in Eros International’s musical drama, Banjo, Riteish Deshmukh and Nargis Fakhri were given the task of recreating the iconic ‘Titanic’ pose epitomised by Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio in the 1997 Hollywood blockbuster.
While the song has been shot at several real locations, Riteish and Nargis were supposed to recreate the famous Titanic pose on a huge rustic ship where Nargis had her arms stretched out as if she’s flying and Riteish had to hold her. Interestingly, since Nargis is scared of heights, she became very conscious while shooting the scene resulting in several retakes. But eventually it came out well.
Nargis says, “It’s always nice to challenge your limits and the Titanic pose sequence was just that. Thankfully, Riteish made it comfortable and helped me overcome my fear of heights and we managed to pull it off well.”
Fact is, 20 years after the release of James Cameron’s Titanic, one of the most iconic movies of all time, the classic pose continues to inspire both on and off screen. While many have tried to recreate the original popular pose of the gorgeous lead couple on the deck of the ill-fated ship, not all have been successful! That, of course, hasn’t stopped many of our B-town beauties and beaus from striking the pose on several occasions, not only with their partners, but also with friends, co-stars and sometimes even alone!
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone did their version of the pose not on a boat but at a party. Interestingly, when someone once asked Priyanka Chopra who she saw a suitable pair to cast in a possible Bollywood version of Titanic, it was this very delicious duo she had named!
She might be denying the presence of any significant other in her life (Bunty Sachev, sorry, boss!) but that didn’t stop Sonakshi Sinha from striking the classic pose with her girl friends as they holidayed in Kerala. The actress had shared the pic from her Kerala travel diaries, as she posed on a boat in the backwaters with her friends. Commenting on the hilarity that comes through, she had quipped, “Don’t ask what’s going on here. All that matters is that we had fun…” We can clearly see that!
Priyanka Chopra struck that pose solo amidst a goofy party scene on the cruise liner in Dil Dhadakne Do, while Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhoomi Pednekar channelled romance off screen as they got together on a boat. Where was his wife, we wonder??!
Shah Rukh did it, not with wife Gauri but his own replica, while Maanyata and Sanjay Dutt exuded joy, arms outstretched as they lounged on the sofa, celebrating Dutt’s freedom. Ranveer Singh was it yet again as he promoted his Kill Dill on the sets of ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ with Parineeti trying her darndest to ape Kate Winslet.
On the sets of ‘Comedy Nights Bachao’, it was Alia Bhatt trying to channel her inner Leo DiCaprio as she struck the pose with comedienne Bharati! A hoot, for sure!
A heart full of love? Or arms outstretched to embrace the box office which he rules?? Salman Khan rang in the New Year, striking the famous pose on his terrace. Given the presence of rumoured fiancée Iulia Vantur in his life, maybe he would recreate that stance differently now for his private albums, heh heh!
