Rangroot trailer: Diljit Dosanjh will play World War I soldier, highlighting the dilemma of the soldiers


Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh will be seen as soldier Sajjan Singh Rangroot in the upcoming regional film ‘Rangroot’. Set during the British Raj in India, Sajjan Singh Rangroot is fictionalised version of the time when Indian soldiers were sent off to fight the Germans in the World War I. The film is set in the time when the Sikh soldiers were fighting for their right and how they stood against all odds and fought like a warrior.

In the trailer, Diljit perfectly grabs the attention with its treatment and intensity. The trailer also gives us a glimpse of renowned Punjabi singer Sunanda Sharma, who is making her acting debut with the film. The trailer also showcases the struggle of Lahore regiment, while fighting the Germans who outnumbered them. They faced a food shortage, they had no medicines and their fellow mates were being killed, still, they were determined to win the battle. Diljit beautifully brings forth the dilemma of a soldier who cannot sleep as when he closes his eyes he can see the faces of the martyred soldiers.

“Will the blood we shed be valued at all?” asks Diljit Dosanjh’s character in the trailer of World War I drama Sajjan Singh Rangroot. We also see Diljit’s bloddied face as he fights the enemy for the Britishers.

The film also stars, Yograj Singh, Jarnail Singh, Jagjeet Sandhu and Dheeraj. The film which is scheduled to release on March 23, 2018.
