After delivering stellar performance in three back-to-back films this year, actor Rajkummar wRao, is not yet ready to take a break. After his last film ‘Newton’, which is India’s official entry for the Oscars’ Best Foreign Language Film category, the actor is ready to battle it out at the international stage.
“We have a plan in place and we will be going to US to promote the film. It is a battle and a big task,” says Rao.
But quickly after the announcement, the film was embroiled in a plagiarism accusation followed by global sensation Priyanka Chopra, claiming that her film ‘Ventilator’ should have been selected as she could have done a better promotion for it at the international stage. Talking about these controversies, Rao says “The plagiarism accusation was dismissed by Anurag (Kashyap) himself, so I am happy, as such things tend to stay in peoples mind. Moreover, I have no idea if she (Priyanka) has said that, I don’t know if I can match up to her. But we will try our best to make our country proud at the international level,” Rao clarifies.
While this has been an eventful year for Rao, he has an interesting line-up ahead as well. At the moment he is shooting for “Fanney Khan” opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with Anil Kapoor. Talking about romancing the most beautiful woman in the world, Rao says that their scenes will be full of chemistry.
“The chemistry will be H2SOCO and much more. There is a love angle between us (Rao and Aishwarya), I am nervous and excited as well, as I will be romancing the world’s most beautiful woman. Though I still have to start shooting with her, we have had some practice sessions. Till now, I have been shooting with Anil sir, and it has been fun working on the sets as there is a wonderful vibe around,” he adds.
Talking at the trailer launch of his new film “Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana”, which love-revenge drama after his character in the film is left at the altar, the actor says that karma as come around for him. In the film “Queen”, Rao had left Kangana Ranaut just before the wedding. “Karma is a bitch. It has come back to haunt me. It is important to learn this lesson as well (laughs). Moreover, it is part of being an actor, I get to play so many characters with different journeys,” Rao exclaims.
