Pet parenting: Meet Bollywood celebs lovable furry little ones

There is a whole lot of difference between an animal parent and an animal lover! If you are an animal lover, you love every animal equally. But when you’re an animal parent, your kid is absolutely, 100% the greatest pet in the history of pooches. Animal parent or not, you are bound to realise that the more you get to know people, the more you find yourself loving your pet. Perhaps, animals are the only creatures evolved enough to convey love.

“From my dogs, I learn patience and forbearance. The unconditional love that they teach me to share is timeless and beautiful. Love like this is the highest kind of love,” is what the Dabangg Khan has to say about his pooches. And much like himself, his boys are strong, imposing and high maintenance! The 50-year-old star is a possessive dog parent and cares for two dogs Myson (named after his deceased first pet) and Mylove, both sturdy, huge French Mastiffs whose names are suggestive of Bhaijaan’s unconditional love for them.

No matter how huge they get, they always manage to nestle their heads and conveniently squeeze themselves into your lap. When Big B’s atta boy Shanouk was miffed at his master for giving more attention to his granddaughter Aaradhya, it took more than a few treats to woo old Shanouk back. At home, the superstar spends most of his free time pampering his darling Piranha Dane, who clearly is the Bigger B in the picture.

Alia Bhatt is quite the cat lady and houses a Persian cat whom she fondly calls Pika (named after the Pokemon Pikachu). Pika is quite the star himself on social media. With a volley of Pika’s various moods and Alia fussing around this little ball of fur, their histrionics are simply ‘Purrrfect’!

Sunny Leone believes that adopting a pet is so much better than buying one. Her pooch Lilu is a loving shelter dog who misses Sunny immensely when she’s back for work in India. Completing their family picture is her German Shepherd Cooper, who won’t take anyone misbehaving with his mommy lightly!

Gangsta and Muscles may sound daunting for a pair of dogs, but according to Arjun Rampal, his pets are a far cry from what they are called. “Whether you go for five days or months, when you come back, they jump on you at the door and love you as they missed you completely,” reminisces Arjun.

Piggy Chops may be petrified of cats and she vouches to never be seen within a two mile radius of one but she’s an absolute sucker for dogs! Priyanka cares for an American Cocker Spaniel called Brando named after the Godfather star Marlon Brando, whose temperament is nothing like that of his formidable namesake’s.

Jacqueline Fernandez’s pet cat Miu Miu is a fluffy snow-white Persian cat, whom the actress occasionally uses for a pillow! Always at her furry best, this one has some serious cat-titude! Bollywood heartthrob Varun Dhawan calls his Beagle, Angel, and their love for each other is just so evident. Little Angel, however, is a devil in disguise who loves to nibble at Varun’s shoes and she almost always gets away with the mischief, thanks to Daddy Cool!

While we all know the dude reigning over Miss Sharma’s heart, meet the other ‘Dude’ that has her bowled over! Interestingly, while filming for her upcoming movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in Paris, the crew visited the famous lovers’ point in the city where couples write each other’s names on padlocks and lock them on to the bridge’s fence as a mark of their love… When it was Anushka’s turn, she wrote the name of her Labrador ‘Dude’ instead of ‘the expected name’!

Though Pluto may be ousted from our solar system by cosmic intelligence agencies, Pluto still means the world to the reigning Queen of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut! Apparently, Kangana was very scared of canines, but it was Salman Khan who helped her overcome this fear and she is now a hands-on mommy to her pet pooch.

Sonakshi loves her pets, Kuro (Boxer) and Shiro (Beagle) and we totally love to see the two quite often on Instagram. She recently posted a picture of herself with Kuro on Twitter saying, “Kaala hai par Dilwaala hai” and quite evidently, Kuro wasn’t too happy about it.

Meet Oscar, Sidharth Malhotra’s four-legged support system. The Kapoor And Sons star spends most of his time playing with his dog, a Boxer, and feeding him when he is at home. Two pretty boys in one frame and the girls can’t help but go Woof! Woof!

Bipasha Basu calls her bundle of joy ‘Poshto Basu’ and this Chihuahua isn’t like any other dog on this list. With clothes and accessories flying down from wherever Bips sets her foot (mostly London and New York) this boy is one high maintenance townie. Now don’t you want to live the dog life?

Though Bipasha and Tusshar Kapoor didn’t match notes while naming their dogs, both actors chose to call their dogs Poshto! Incidentally, Tusshar’s miniature Pomeranian is constantly vying for the actor’s attention and, despite having a bed of his own, this little brat loves snuggling up in Tusshar’s bed through the night.

Sonam Kapoor has three Pomeranian dogs named Coke, Bacardi and Feather, whom she can’t stop gushing about on her various social media handles. Like they say, it takes two to tango, but it takes three to tangle… Sonam is often welcomed with three snuggly hugs after a tiring day at work!
