Film: MSG: The Warrior Lion Heart
Cast: Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insaan
Director: Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insaan
He goes by the name of Dr. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insaan now, the latest appendage added on after his two successive entreaties to a captive audience that sees nothing wrong in this self-proclaimed guru who they worship with a fanaticism that seems almost delusional.
Gurmeet Singh appears to have shed some weight but his numerous appendages remain intact. In this film he’s handling around 28 depts. and so. I am quite sure, will happily proclaim he a Guinness world record holder given half a chance.
Movie review Mirzya: Trivializing of a folk-legend
The head of the Dera Sachca Sauda cult has an over enthusiastic fan following among his disciples and they are the ones who are likely to watch this so-called propaganda piece after all. The Sherdil warrior here is invincible- just as he was in the earlier two editions.
He is the protector of a 300 year old kingdom, which he protects from Aliens using weaponry from the Mahabharat era. And in a parallel universe he is also a savoir of helpless women in present day times.
Anyways, that’s not the point here. The plotting is threadbare. The story makes no sense as expected. The implausibility just heightens the disconnection and the sheer bedlam in making style, enactment, effects, choreography, music etc. only makes the experience alienating.
The script- a minefield of discriminating posturing alluding to specific religious minorities is certainly tasteless and extremely crass. No doubt, the self proclaimed guru exists in a world several light years away from reality- one where obsessive self-indulgence and intransigence are banner beliefs meant to hammer through contentious politicized ideologies unpalatable to many in an invariably threatened democratized ecosystem.
