Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Jalebi’ poster inspired by this iconic Korean War pic? See and decide

Mahesh Bhatt, on Monday, released the poster of his next venture ‘Jalebi’. The film stars debutant actors Varun Mitra and Rhea Chakraborty. In the poster, Varun Mitra is passionately kissing Rhea Chakraborty as she is seen with her head out of the train’s window.

Although the poster is quite eye-catching, is the idea behind the poster inspired from a famous photo clicked during Korean War? This iconic photo was clicked during 1950s, when a soldier of 160th Infantry Regiment was departing for Korean War. The photo was clicked by Frank Q. Brown, a former Los Angeles Times staff photographer. Have a look at the photo below.

In the photo, soldier Robert Maye is kissing his wife, Gloria, from the train which is taking soldiers for taking part in Korean War. Robert Maye is kissing his wife Gloria in a way, which is often regarded in war traditions as goodbye kiss. The couple have been married 18 months and have a 6-month-old daughter.

Interestingly, the poster of ‘Jalebi’ is quite similar to that of this picture and may be the makers of the film have taken the poster’s idea from this famous historical picture. However, the difference is that in ‘Jalebi poster’, the position of girl and the boy is switched. Jalebi is being touted as a new age take on love and is slated to release on October 12.
