Today, Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu turns 43 and on this special occasion of his life, the Bharat Ane Nenu star gave a pleasant surprise to his fans by unveiling the first look of his upcoming film, Maharshi. Mahesh Babu has always been loved by not only Telugu but also the entire country. Many girl fans are still go weak in their knees for this handsome and charming actor.
But, Mahesh Babu went down on his knees for his lady love (now wife) actress Namrata Shirodkar. Yes, Mahesh and Namrata’s love story is nothing short of a fairy tale romance. Despite being 4 years older to him, Mahesh did not hesitate in marrying Namrata. Do you know how the lovely couple met for the first time?
Well, Namrata had won the title of Miss India Universe in 1993 and made her acting debut in Bollywood opposite Salman Khan in Jab Pyaar Kissi Se Karta Hai (1998). After doing some films in Bollywood, Namrata was offered a Telugu film Vamsi in 1999 which she signed. Interestingly, Vamsi turned out to be the first film of Mahesh Babu as well.
Later, in 2000, Namrata and Mahesh met for the first time at the muhurat of the film. Though it was a brief meeting, their eye contact with each other did a lot of talking. By the time the film was completed, Mahesh and Namrata had already fallen in love with each other.
Interestingly, despite being popular personalities, Mahesh and Namrata kept their relationship away from the media. Mahesh didn’t even tell his parents about it. It was his sister to whom he had confessed that he and Namrata were in love with each other. After dating for 4 years, Mahesh and Namrata announced to get married in 2004 and got hitched in 2005. Their marriage also has an interesting story.
Before the marriage, Mahesh and Namrata were very busy with their respective pending projects. Hence, it was Namrata’s family who took the charge of organising the wedding. While getting nostalgic about the wedding, Mahesh had said, “I was shooting the whole night before for the film Athadu. I finished the shoot and flew down to get married.”
Namrata too said, “I was busy until the week before the marriage, as I was trying to finish all my assignments. I really had no time. But then all the arrangements were done by my sister and brother-in-law and my parents.”
Mahesh and Namrata have two kids. They gave birth to a son Gautham Krishna, in the year 2006 whereas, daughter Sitara Ghattamaneni was born in 2012.
