Did you know, Madhubala was fondly in love with Dilip Kumar, and even he loved Madhubala from the bottom of his heart? Even today, he has a soft corner for Madhubala. Once Dilipji said in a Girgaon Magistrate court that, “Jab tak mai zinda hu tab tak mai Madhubala se pyaar Karunga”.
Their love story is legendary. At one point of time, Dilip Kumar wanted to marry with Madhubala but her father Attaullah Khan was not ready for this marriage. One day on the set, where Omprakash, Madhubala and Dilip Kumar were present, he told her, “Now itself I want to marry you.” But, Dilip Kumar kept one condition, that after marriage Madhubala will never meet her father in future. Madhubala did not say anything, and Dilip Kumar walked away.
After getting separated, they kept working together in films. While shooting for ‘Naya Daur’, Dilip Kumar and Madhubala were to go for outdoor shooting to Bhopal, but her father did not allow Madhubala to go for the outdoor shooting. After that, B R Chopra replaced Madhubala from the films, and Vyanjantimala became the lead actor of ‘Naya Daur’.
Madhubala’s real name was Mumtaz Jehan Dehlavi. She was born in New Delhi on 14th February 1933. At a very small age, Madhubala started working in films. At the age of 9, Madhubala was introduced to Bollywood industry. Her family was struggling with financial issues, and Madhubala started earning through entertainment industry to help to her family.
She was given a break by director Kedar Sharma. In the film NeelKamal opposite Rajukumar, he gave the name of ‘Venus Of The Screen’ to Madhubala. Remember this movie featured the unforgettable song ‘Aayi Meherban, Baithiye Jaanejaan…’ She acted in more than seventy films from 1947 to 1964, 15 of which were box office successes.
