IFFM 2017 winners list: Konkona, Sushant win Best Actor awards, special honour for Aishwarya

Mumbai: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karan Johar, Rajkummar Rao were the part of the IFFM 2017. Aishwarya is currently in Australia for the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM)- Australia’s annual celebration of film from India and the subcontinent- looked stunning as she walked the red carpet.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with daughter Aaradhya experienced a moment of pride in Melbourne. The ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ star, who donned a black embroidered dress, was bestowed with ‘Excellence in Global Cinema’ award at the film festival. The two hoisted the Indian flag as a part of their celebration of 70th year of India’s Independence. The two not only hosted the flag but also sang the National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana.

Thanking Melbourne for giving such an honour to her, Aishwarya said, “Thank you so much Melbourne, thank you everyone for giving us such a moment of pride and happiness with so much love and warmth. Celebrating our 70th Independence Day will forever be such a beautiful memory for me and my dearest Aaradhya.” The actor first spoke in Hindi and then went on to translate her words into English for the non-Hindi speaking audience.

People’s Choice Award : Dangal & Bahubali 2

Karan Johar was awarded the Leadership in Cinema Award at this prestigious festival and he presented the IFFM Diversity Award to Garth Davis, director of the Academy nominated film LION.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was awarded with the Westpac IFFM Excellence in Global Cinema award, presented by The Victorian Premier.
