I wanted to act, to perform: Prateik Babbar


Away from films for quite a while, Pratiek Babbar was last seen in ISAAQ opposite Amyra Dastur. Being the son of Actress Smita Patil and Actor Raj Babbar, Pratiek did not get an impressive start in Bollywood but wants to make a comeback with a powerful performance.

Ask him what sort of a role he would like to do in his next film, he says, “I think something dealing with struggle and pain and coming out as a winner, would suit the kind of space I’m in right now.

Pratiek acted in a play called SIX, in which he played a gay character for the first time. The play was well appreciated by the LGBT community and is competing at competitions on the international level.

Films earlier and now theatres, usually actors start with theatres and then turn to films. He says, “I wanted to act. I wanted to perform. I realised I love it too much. I’m absolutely obsessed with it. And I wasn’t going to wait till people were ready to make a movie with me. It could be months even years but I just wanted to act. So I started with theatres.”
