Anurag Kashyap’s personal relationships have always been intriguing. Here are a few excerpts from his conversation with SHUBARNA MUKERJI SHU.
When you are perched on the top and weaving stories about people, their feelings, the darkest and the most complicated problems also seem to find simple solutions. But that’s not how life usually pans out. I am someone with a darker side, someone who sees the world in the shade of black. The humour I find is dark, the relationships, love, emotions… nothing is rose-tinted.
Maybe, I am cynical. Maybe I am a realist. All said and done, it is something one has to accept, rather than brood over. I usually don’t brood, it is not cool. I might do so after a few drinks, but who knows what people do when they are drunk!
I don’t think marriage is for me, though. I don’t know how to handle it when people are dependent on me. I would much rather be two individuals coming together in love, but in no way taking over their individuality. The fact is that once you start depending on someone, you are bound to get disappointed – I am not being cynical here. It is a fact that our expectations always supersede what we ourselves are capable of, so really it is just heartbreak bound to happen.
What relationship I share with my loved ones, is really my personal affair. I am not going to be talking about my equations with you all, but I do believe that a lot of times it is my own insecurities and fears that stop me from giving my all to people I love. It is funny but, from the best around me, I expect the most. Sometimes a bit too much!
