How Kalki stays sane…

Kalki Koechlin comes across as a tough girl, confident and outspoken. So who would have guessed that she is actually reduced to tears by some of the harsh criticism that occasionally comes her way! “Criticism definitely affects me and I cry a lot,” she reveals.

She has learnt to circumvent this problem by simply not reading critics very often! The opposing points of view get confusing and now she feels that it’s important to know who she wants to take criticism from. She believes it’s important for people who really know her, who know her journey as an actor, to give her feedback.

If a co-actor, a colleague or a director were to tell her that she needs to work on a particular area, she would gladly do so. She also listens to friends who are not from the industry because they are not blinded by the stardom.

That said, it’s equally important in Kalki’s book to not listen to everything that appears on social media because it has the capacity to drive one nuts! The fear that such damaging feedback can instill would leave one paralysed and unable to function at all, is her belief. And so, restraint is the keyword, in Kalki’s book!
