From DDLJ to Taal: Remembering Anand Bakshi on his 87th birth anniversary

On his 87th birth anniversary, we remember most famous lyricist and poet Anand Bakshi, who gave soulful lyrics in many beautiful songs in Bollywood. The films include Bobby, Amar Prem, Aaradhnam Sholay, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Taal.

Bakshi debuted in Brij Mohan’s film ‘Bhalaa Aadmi’ in which he penned down four song. In fact, according to his son Rakesh, Anand Bakshi had written almost 3300 songs. In them, most we romantic like ‘Humko humise chura lo’ from Mohabbatein, ‘Solah baras ki’, ‘Yaad aa rahi hai’, ‘Bholi si surat’, ‘Tujhe dekha toh yeh jana’, ‘Lagi aaj sawan ki’.

The great poet was born in Rawalpandi, which is now in Pakistan, on July 21, 1930. Initially, Bakshi wanted to a singer but he became a successful lyricist in Bollywood.
