With his six foot tall frame, chiseled body, defined features and imposing personality, Freddy Daruwala made a stellar debut as the lead antagonist in the Akshay Kumar starrer Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, instantly arresting the attention of filmmakers and creating an impressive fan following.
The very talented Freddy pulled off grey characters in films including Force 2 and Commando 2, reformulating a villain’s presence on the big screen. Aiming for variety and versatility in his work, he wants to essay positive roles and is looking forward to play lead roles.
The 33-year-old actor has signed a three film deal with producer-director Vipul Shah, one of them being a medical drama, an adaptation of the Nicole Kidman-Colin Firth starrer Before I Go to Sleep. Freddy is laconic about his role, however. He reveals, “I play a parallel lead in the film and we will start shooting for it in September. I think Vipul will be directing it.”
Talking about his close association with his mentor Vipul Shah, the actor adds, “Having worked together before, he believes in me and is keen on giving me more scope as an actor. He also feels that I can do more. Hence the three film deal, where I’m expected to play different and interesting characters.”
