Television actor Ravi Dubey says daily shows enjoy massive popularity and it is wrong to ridicule the content on the small screen content as “regressive”. With the growing influence of digital shows, there is an argument that Indian television is still stuck in ‘saas-bahu’ stories.
Ravi says while there is a scope for improvement everywhere, he does not believe that the content on TV is bad. “There is a scope for evolution everywhere whether it is television, films or theatre. But it doesn’t mean that a multiple thousand crore industry doesn’t produce good content at all,” Ravi said. “Obviously, there is something in the content which is why it is appealing to millions of people. Television is the highest sampled industry,” he says.
The 33-year-old actor says in his 11 years of acting career, he has worked in progressive shows like “Jamai Raja” and “Saas Bina Sasural”. “I have seen the progressive side of the Indian television. But if in some people’s opinion it is regressive then that is the aspect they may have experienced. I am proud of the shows I have done.”
Ravi will be seen next in the eighth season of action adventure reality show “Khatron Ke Khiladi”. “I go by what is offered to me and what excites me as an actor. I have physical fears so the time was right for me to grab the bull by its horns,” he says.
