Veteran actress Deepti Naval has, of late, been raving about the award-winning documentary, AWAKE: THE LIFE OF YOGANANDA. The biopic on the life of Yogananda Paramhansa who authored spiritual classic ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’ is slated for a pan India release on June 17.
Deepti, who has been a Seeker, shares, “I read ‘Autobiography of a Yogi when I was in college and now my friend Sushmita Mukherjee has gifted me the book again. After seeing the film AWAKE, the memoir will make so much more sense. So I’m looking forward to read it again.”
Talking about the movie she says, “The movie is very well made and it puts things in the right perspective. It’s been made without any consideration for the so-called projection of something in commercial terms, without decorating it with any false glitz to make it work. The whole focus is on what Swamiji lived for, so that’s what the film brings out.”
A regular practitioner of Yoga herself, she adds, “The whole concept of Self Realisation through meditation and Kriya, is something that we need to take much more seriously. So instead of using it as a tool for sickness we need to think of it as something that brings us closer to our inner self and make us realise who we are.” Amen to that!
