2. Marriage and struggling period
The couple went through a lot of struggle to be together, from keeping their relationship a secret for five years to even changing his name to pose as a Hindu boy to impress Gauri’s parents. They did all they could to convince her parents about their love and its seriousness. Shah Rukh was finally able to get Gauri’s hand and her parent’s blessings. And, the couple finally got married in 1991. It was a Hindu marriage ceremony. Gauri said about her parents’ reaction on her marriage with SRK, “Yes, my parents were obviously not for it because we were so young and then, to take a decision to get married to a person who was going to join films and also from a different religion.”

3. Gauri on Shah Rukh’s successful career in Bollywood
Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most successful actors of Bollywood. However, it seems like SRK’s biggest critic is at home, his wife Gauri Khan. On Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee with Karan, Gauri spoke about criticising SRK. She said, “If he is bad in a film I don’t need to praise him. He needs to accept that, I am an audience. He needs to deal with it. Shakti was his worst performance in a long time. I respect him for his profession, he is King Khan and gets great write ups, but he doesn’t hear from other people, and I should tell him because no one else tells him.”

When HT asked her to share the secret behind their successful marriage of over two decades, Gauri said, “We both are very easy-going people. He doesn’t question me about too many things, and he also stays busy with his work. I think when people spend all their time together is when trouble starts brewing.
