The makers of Lipstick Under My Burkha have faced quite a few controversies due to its content. The Censor Board refused to give the film clearance to take the film to Indian theatres. However, the makers
advocated their way to acquire an ‘A’ rated certificate from the Board.
Talking about the film, Ratna Pathak Shah said in an interview to indianexpress.com, “Lipstick Under My Burkha is definitely bold! It is saying things that are not commonly heard, so I am hoping that it will shake up the audience and make them think.”
