Wearing a brown leather jacket and blue denim, Amitabh Bachchan stole the show at the trailer launch of his new film Pink. Amidst younger co-actors like Taapsee Pannu, KirtiKulhari, Angad Bedi and new comer, Andrea Tariang, Amitabh Bachchan led the brigade and introduced his film along with director/producer Shoojit Sircar.
A film that talks about women empowerment is rightly titled Pink. It revolves around the story of three roommates and how a tragedy leads to a court room trial. In the film Amitabh Bachchan plays a lawyer opposite Piyush Mishra’s counter-attack.
Talking about his character in the film, Amitabh Bachchan said, “He plays a character who’s gone through a tragedy in his life previously. He isn’t an exceptional lawyer and hasn’t done anything exceptional in his life. He spots the problems these girls face in their day to day life and takes drastic steps to change things. That’s the first time he does something big that makes him proud.”
When asked about the title of the film, he said, “Pink is a colour of women empowerment and the film is also dedicated to all the women globally. The colour has many natures. This film will break down the identity of the colour.”
Touching the sensitive topic of women safety in the capital city of the Delhi, when Amitabh Bachchan was asked his opinion about the rise in rape cases, he recited a line from an editorial he which said, “Woman’s body is not a democracy, it’s a dictatorship. It’s time the dictator took charge,” and ended the press meet.
