Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji to reunite for ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ sequel? Details inside


With Bollywood rolling out more and more sequels, the audience may just be treated by a YRF hit form back in the day. The film in question here is Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji’s 2005 film Bunty Aur Babli. The duo has worked together in various films and is all set to reunite after almost a decade.

According to Pinkvilla, a source close to the production house spilled some details to us about the sequel. “Bunty Aur Babli sequel has been on cards for quite some time now. But it was only recently that the things were taken forward. Aditya Chopra himself is looking into this and the pre-production work has already started. Both Rani and Abhishek are more than keen to do this project and have given their nod for it. However, it won’t be directed by Shaad. Who is helming this sequel is still not revealed. But the plot has been finalised and the shoot schedule is being planned. If everything works out well, then the movie will tentatively go on-floors in November, this year.”

The official spokesperson of YRF mentioned, “Bunty Aur Babli is one of Aditya Chopra’s favourite YRF film and he has always wanted to make a sequel to the much-loved movie. However, currently, there is no locked script or locked cast for the same.”

On the work front, Abhishek Bachchan is back on the big screen with Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan opposite Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. Furthermore, he will be seen in Gulab Jamun with wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film goes on-floors soon.

Rani Mukerji, on the other hand, won rave reviews for her role in Hichki will be seen in a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero.
