London: A car today crashed into security barriers outside the UK’s Parliament at speed, injuring a number of pedestrians, Scotland Yard said as armed police quickly arrested the driver. It was not immediately known whether the incident is related to terrorism. However, police have put up a Terrorism Act cordon, officers said. Some eyewitnesses said the car appeared to deliberately hit members of the public, BBC reported.

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Governor Balramji Dass Tandon died at a hospital here today, an official said. He was 90. Tandon was rushed to the state-run Dr B R Ambedkar Memorial Hospital here this morning after he complained of uneasiness, the governor’s secretary, Surendra Kumar Jaiswal, said. He later died at the hospital, he said.

The crash took place at 7.37 a.m. and the male driver of the car was detained by officers at the scene, the Scotland Yard said in a statement. “A number of pedestrians have been injured,” it said.
New Delhi: India’s annual rate of inflation based on wholesale prices eased to 5.09 per cent in July from a rise of 5.77 per cent in June, official data showed here on Tuesday. The data on wholesale price index (WPI) furnished by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry showed that the rate of inflation had increased to 1.88 per cent during the corresponding month in 2017.
