  • Death toll from Indonesia earthquake reaches 380

    Mataram: An earthquake on the Indonesian island of Lombok has killed 387 people, authorities said today, adding hundreds of thousands of displaced people were still short of clean water, food and medicine nearly a week on. The shallow 6.9-magnitude quake Sunday levelled tens of thousands of homes, mosques and businesses across Lombok, just one week after another tremor surged through the island and killed 17.

  • Ujjain: Drizzle heralds return of rain

    Ujjain: City dwellers enjoyed return of rain after a fortnight. Drizzling started from Thursday afternoon and turned into rain by Friday evening. According to government Jiwajirao observatory 28 millimetre rain was recorded. The weatherman said that the current spell of monsoon will continue as the system has been activated in the Bay of Bengal. The city has received 586mm rain in this season he added.
