    Thiruvananthapuram: Nearly 34,000 people have been shifted to relief camps after flood water inundated low-lying areas due to heavy rains that have lashed the state for the past one week. A total of 34,693 people from 8,033 families were shifted to 265 relief camps he across the state, the control room monitoring rain-related incidents said.

  • 19 Indian fishermen goes missing after their boat overturns in Bay of Bengal  

    Diamond Harbour: At least 19 fishermen have gone missing after their boat capsized in the sea, off Frazerganj harbour, in south Bengal, officials said today. Sunderban Superintendent of Police Tathagata Basu said a hovercraft and an airplane have pressed into service to look for the missing persons.

    New Delhi: Airlines might be asked to shell out additional charges for use of slots during peak hours at aerodromes, with the proposal being considered by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), according to a senior official. The proposal, once implemented, could also push the airfares higher as carriers might pass on the additional charges to the passengers.

    New Delhi: A Delhi court today sent the husband of a female flight attendant, who allegedly committed suicide in south Delhi’s Panchsheel Park on Friday, to two weeks’ judicial custody. Metropolitan Magistrate Anuj Kumar sent Mayank Singhvi to 14 days’ judicial remand after Delhi police moved an application saying the accused was not required for custodial interrogation and he be sent to JC. Singhvi was arrested yesterday evening.

    New Delhi: Former Delhi Law minister Somnath Bharti will face trial in connection with the 2014 midnight raid at Khirki Extension here, with a Delhi court today framing molestation charges against him. An FIR was lodged by police in the case on the court’s direction after a Ugandan woman filed a plea on January 18, 2014. She had sought lodging of criminal case against unknown persons in the incident.
