  • Boat capsizes in AP, 7 missing 

     Amaravati : Seven persons are missing after a country boat carry-ing 30 people capsized in the Gautami river in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. CM Chandrababu Naidu said that 23 passengers have been rescued, while a search is on for the remaining. Naidu said that the boat was carrying 30 people, mostly students, when it capsized after colliding with a pier of a bridge under construction.

    Indore : Thieves targeted a house in Annapurna area and took away cash and other valuables worth lakhs of rupees on Friday. The police have registered a case and are examining the CCTVs installed around the spot. According to the police, the incident took place at house of Sandeep Soni in Usha Nagar area on July 9. Soni along with family members were out when the thieves entered the house and decamped

    Nashik : An advisory committee of the Nashik Municipal Corporation has decided to file a case against Hindutva leader Sambhaji Bhide,accusing him of violating the anti-sex determination law with his “mangoes for sons” remark. The committee submitted a report which accuses him of violating the Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act (PCPNDT Act), a civic official said on Saturday.

  • Man held for selling farmer’s land using forged docus

     Yavatmal : A man has been arrested in Yavatmal district for allegedly forging the documents of a plot of land belonging to a local farmer and selling it to another person, police said on Saturday. Arif Ali Abid Ali (35) was arrested on Friday after farmer Prashant Mankar Wankhede complained that his plot of land had been sold to another person identified only as Yadav, a senior police official said.
