    Chandigarh : A Sikh woman from Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district who went to Pakistan on a pilgrimage has reportedly embraced Islam and married a Lahore-based Pakistani man, according to her family which alleged that she may have fallen into the hands of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence and forced to convert and remarry.

  • NTPC decides to exit from joint venture with BHEL

    New Delhi : Power producer NTPC Ltd has decided to exit the joint venture with BHEL, saying it is not a manufacturer of equipment and would rather concentrate on setting up and operating power plants.

  • India exports record 3.95L tonnes of coffee in FY18

     New Delhi: Coffee exports from India, Asia’s third-largest producer and exporter, reached an all-time high at 3.95 lakh tonnes in the 2017-18 fiscal on strong demand for instant coffee, according to state-run Coffee Board.The country had exported 3.55 lakh tonnes of coffee in the previous year.

  • Thyssenkrupp-Tata Steel’s JV to be finalised by 2018-end

    Nashik : German steel giant Thyssenkrupp expects its proposed joint venture with Tata Steel Europe to be finalised by the end of this calendar year, a senior company official said. Both the companies in September last year had announced plans to combine their European operations and form an equal joint venture, creating Europe’s second largest steel maker, after ArcelorMittal.

  • Samena Capital buys up to 35 % stake in Bloom Hotels chain

    Mumbai : Bloom Hotels said it has raised Rs 100 crore in series B funding round from Samena Capital, which has bought up to 35 per cent stake in the hospitality chain. The investment will help roll out the company’s innovative affordable brands to all Indian cities, Bloom Hotels said in a statement.
