    New Delhi: Karnataka’s 36 Congress Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) have criminal background, said a report by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR). According to the report, out of the 207 MLAs analysed, 68 (33 percent) MLAs had declared criminal cases against themselves. The report added that 35 (17 percent) MLAs had declared serious criminal cases against themselves.

    Islamabad: The Lahore High Court on Thursday ordered government authorities to not “harass” banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief and 2008 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed and allow him to continue his “social welfare activities”. The founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) alleged in a petition that the government was interfering in his party’s welfare projects because it had bowed down to pressure from India and the US, Dawn online reported.

    New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday observed that Aadhaar cannot stop bank frauds, adding, officials seemingly are hand in glove with the fraudsters.     New Delhi: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Thursday submitted a report to the government on open-architecture based WiFi services through interoperability at low prices, which would substantially slash data prices.
    Submitting the report on “Public Wi-Fi Open Pilot Project” to Communications Minister Manoj Sinha, TRAI Chairman R.S. Sharma said: “This is an architecture based on interoperability and is a very robust one… like UPI and Aadhar.”

    New Delhi: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Thursday announced that the Finance Act, 2018 has amended Section 16 of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The new provision states that a taxpayer having income chargeable under the head ‘Salaries’ shall be allowed a deduction of Rs. 40,000 or the amount of salary, whichever is less, for computing his taxable income.
