  • HUDCO IPO to hit mkt on May 8; govt to raise over Rs 1,200 cr

    New Delhi: The government plans to raise up to Rs 1,224 crore by selling equity shares in the HUDCO’s initial public offer (IPO) that will hit the capital market on Monday. State-owned Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), a ‘Miniratna’ firm which provides loans for housing and urban infrastructure projects, will launch the IPO on May 8 where the government is offering 204,058,747 shares for sale.

  • Govt gives wide-ranging powers to RBI to deal with bad loans

    New Delhi: The government today gave wide- ranging legislative powers to the Reserve Bank to issue directions to lenders to initiate insolvency proceedings for the recovery of bad loans. Non-performing assets (NPAs) or bad loans of public sector banks (PSBs) have reached “unacceptably high levels” of over Rs 6 lakh crore, the bulk of which are in sectors such as power, steel, road infrastructure and textiles.
