  • Somali official: Somali security forces rescue hijacked boat

    Mogadishu: Security forces recovered an Indian-registered boat hijacked by Somali pirates nearly a week ago, but nine of the Indian crew are still being held hostage, a Somali official said today. Security forces from the semi-autonomous Galmudug region rescued two crew members in the boat last night, but pirates escaped to land and have nine of the Indian crew, Abdullahi Ahmed Ali, the mayor of Hobyo, told The Associated Press.

    New Delhi: Dubbing Pakistan’s announcement of death sentence to alleged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav as a ‘heinous’ act, the Defence Experts on Tuesday said Islamabad is thick-skinned. Speaking to ANI, Defence Expert Ranjeet Rai said Pakistan has denied consular access to India in many such cases, which is a right given to any country under the Geneva Convention article 36 (c) 1.

    BHOPAL: Around 250 doctors posted in health facilities of the state have decided to resign from their post because they are not getting admission in post graduation course. The doctors demonstrated at Satpuda Bhawan on Monday to press their demand of a proper policy to include most areas of the state so that they are eligible to take admission in PG course.

    BHOPAL: A 46-year-old man was allegedly murdered by two men late on Sunday night in TT Nagar here. The police found the body on Monday morning while his injured friend, lying unconscious near him, was rushed to a nearby hospital.

    BHOPAL: The government is all set to mobilise lakhs of people at Mhow, the birthplace of Babasaheb Ambedkar, on the birth anniversary of the dalit icon on April 14. Last year, PM Modi had attended the 125th Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations at Mhow on this day. The Centre has not launched any campaign in this regard this year but the state government, on its own, has decided to initiate a campaign from Mhow

  • Bhopal: Cabinet to consider ban on polythene

    BHOPAL: A proposal to impose a blanket ban on use of polythene in the State will be put up in the cabinet meeting scheduled for Tuesday. After cabinet’s approval, a Bill will be tabled in the Vidhan Sabha and later sent to the Centre for its approval. The ban will come into force after the Centre’s nod.

  • Bhopal: Railway block to affect 3 trains

    BHOPAL: Rail traffic will remain blocked on April 11 and 12 from 11.40 am to 1.40 pm between Habibganj and Bhopal railway stations due to ongoing construction work of ROB at Pulbogda. A railway press release said Indore-Habibganj Inter-city will be terminated at Bhopal on these two days and Habibganj-Dahod Passenger will start from Bhopal railway station. 11016 Kushinagar Express will be detained at Bhopal from 12 noon to 1.40 pm.

  • Bhopal: COPS cleans up Shahpura Park

    BHOPAL: The volunteers of COPS (Clean Our Planet Society) gathered at Swarna Jayanti Park in Shahpura and conducted a cleanliness drive on Sunday. Armed with garbage bags, as many as 12 volunteers hit the park, a hotspot of joggers, to clean it. In the two-hour drive, waste including gutka pouches, rags, shattered bottles, chips and chocolate wrappers etc were collected and properly discarded.

  • Bhopal: Congress demands apology from Umashankar for comment against ECI

    BHOPAL: The Congress has demanded revenue minister Umashankar Gupta should apologise on his statement against the Election Commission of India regarding the Ater bypolls. Congress spokesperson JP Dhanopia said the minister had stated that ECI was working as an election agent and due to fault of ECO Saleena Singh the collector and SP had been removed.
