  • Lok Sabha Speaker arrives in city to participate in RSS supported ‘yagna’

    Ujjain : The RSS supported ‘mahashakti yagna’ performed by Mahashakti Yagna Samiti Hyderabad, which began on March 1 at Shree Jhalriya Matha, Narsingh ghat, near river Kshipra, concluded on Saturday morning. These yagnas will be performed at 12 Jyotirlingas and 52 ‘shaktipeethas’ located across the country.

  • One dead after bike rams into electricity pole

    Ujjain : Two bikers rammed into an electricity pole, near Muni nagar, after the bike on which they were travelling lost balance, on Friday night. One biker died on the spot due to serious head injuries while the other was injured severely and admitted to hospital.

    Lucknow : The Bharatiya Janata Party has handed over Uttar Pradesh to Hindu hardliners when it named the firebrand Yogi Adityanath as the 21st chief minister of the state. The party’s state president, Keshav Prasad Maurya, who has his roots in the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, will be a deputy chief minister along with Dinesh Sharma, the low-profile Mayor of Lucknow. Sharma has had a long association with the RSS.

    Ujjain : Collector Sanket Bhondve visited Mahakaleshwar temple and its surrounding areas including Maharajwada school, to oversee the upcoming expansion project in the area. Since visitors at Mahakaleshwar temple have been increasing rapidly, the need for more space has become imminent. The collector instructed that, an air conditioned hall be constructed with a capacity of 100 chairs above the facility centre.

  • Money launderers arrested

    Ujjain : Police are on the lookout for accomplices of money launderer Shivraj Singh Rathore, who was responsible for the suicide of a cloth merchant in village Bhatpachalana, due to extortion. Bhatpachalana police authorities earlier arrested Shivraj Singh on the basis of evidence available against him.

    Ujjain : An ex-student of Central School, Ujjain, Shriya Gehlot, daughter of Ravindra Kumar Gehlot, has secured a place in the ‘Visiting Students Research Programme 2017’ sponsored by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. The institute is known as the centre for Nuclear Science and Mathematics.
