  • 5 selected for Kalidas Painting, Sculpture Award

    Ujjain: Five best entries received for National Kalidas Painting and Sculptor competition- 2013 organised by Vikram University and Kalidas Sanskrit Academy MP Cultural Council were given awards. Academy director Prof Mithilaprasad Tripathi informed that this year’s exhibition was based on the creation of Mahakavi Kalidas ‘ Ritusamharam’. About 152 entries were received through 134 admit cards.

  • Girl alleges sexual assault by three

    Ujjain: A 19- year- old girl on Monday lodged an FIR with Mahakal police station against three youths for raping her after promising a job.AJK police will investigate the case. Mahakal police informed that the victim, a resident of Makronia Kopra of Sagar district accused Surendra Lodhi, Manish and Deepak, all residents of her native place, of raping.

    Ujjain: City police have arrested an idol smuggler from Gujarat following the recovery of Ganesha idol from three persons few days ago while they were striking a deal to sell the idol. The accused was produced in the local court and was sent on police remand till February 6.

  • Fire breaks out at gunny bag godown

    Ujjain: Fire broke out at a gunny bag godown located at Chimanganj Mandi in the wee hours on Monday. Goods worth around Rs 2 lakh gutted in the incident. Fire fighters took eight hours to extinguish the fire.Sources informed that trader Mohammad Shoqin, a resident of Juna Somwariya has a gunny bag godown at Gate Number 1 of Chimanganj Krishi Upaj Mandi.

    BHOPAL: Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences ( SAIMS), Indore chairman Dr Vinod Bhandari was sent to jail in PMT- 2012 fraud on Monday. Special Task Force ( STF) produced Dr Bhandari in the court of CJM Pankaj Singh Maheshwari and he was sent on Judicial Remand till February 17.

    Indore: Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court directed Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya ( DAVV) to refund tuition fees of two MTech degree holder students who belong to families having green cards. Under Green Card Scheme, students are exempted from tuition fee if their parents undergo family planning surgery after two children.
