Karachi: In the wake of Bangladesh’s historic ODI series win over Pakistan and the team’s most successful World Cup campaign, country’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced flats, cars and prize money for the national cricket team as a token of appreciation.
Bangladesh won their first ever T20 victory over Pakistan by seven wickets on Friday before clinching three-match ODI series 3-0.
Bangladesh also reached their first World Cup quarterfinal before losing out to India for a last-four spot.
While congratulating the team during a reception at her residence, Hasina said that the team had received 10 million taka as winning bonus in the World Cup and 30 million taka more from the ICC.
Hasina said that captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and his team mates would receive another 12.3 million taka from the BCB, the Express Tribune reported.
The Bangladesh team would receive another 10 million taka for their inspiring performance in the World Cup and another 10 million taka for the limited-overs series sweep against Pakistan, she added.
In addition, the national team players would also be provided cars and accommodation by the government.
