Kidnapping and rape case
BHOPAL : A petition has been moved in Madhya Pradesh High Court, Jabalpur on Saturday seeking quashing of FIRs registered against Congress MLA Hemant Katare in kidnapping and rape case. High Court has power under Section 482 of CrPC to quash FIRs on ground of compromise or if allegations are found absurd. Advocate Priyanshu Jain(Jabalpur) said that Bhopal based advocate Santanu Saxena has filed a petition in High Court to quash FIRs lodged against Hemant Katre.
Advocate Akash Telang, rape victim lawyer, said informed that High Court has special power under Section 482 of CrPC to quash FIRs. But in this case High Court will not quash the FIRs as it is very serious matter, he added.
Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the case has announced Rs 10,000 reward for information leading to arrest of the MLA and Vikramjit Singh. An aspiring journalist had lodged a complaint against the MLA accusing him of rape. While her mother had lodged two complaints that of kidnapping with Bazaria police station and rape with Mahila Police station— against the Congress Katare. The MLA on other had had accused girl of blackmailing and extortion. On his complaint crime branch police had arrested him. The girl was sent to jail and was recently released on bail.
Katare accuses police of framing him
BHOPAL : MLA Hemant Katare, who is absconding, has now come up with allegations against the police for framing him in false rape case without a fair probe. The Ater MLA on Saturday told a TV channel that the deputy inspector general Dharemendra Chowdhary, town inspector (TI) of Bajaria police station DP Singh and TI of women police station Shikha Bais are biased. He said that he will produce evidence in support of his claims within forty eight hours to prove his story. He has demanded the three officials be suspended as this is a conspiracy against him and that he will expose it within forty eight hours.
