Congress cries foul, complains to EC
BHOPAL : The ministers, who, thus far, were seeking votes for the BJP in Kolaras be-elections with folded hands, are now resorting to threatening the voters. While canvassing in the constituencies, Sports Minister Yashodhararaje Scindia told a public meeting at Kolaras on Saturday that “If you will vote for the hand, the schemes of the government of lotus will not reach your villages”.
Yashodhara said that the people have already voted for the hand twice and seen the consequences. “Neither drinking water schemes reached your villages nor your names figured in (the list of beneficiaries of) LPG stove distribution schemes”. She said that the people would get benefits of government schemes only if a BJP MLA will represent the constituency. “Even if the Congress candidate is elected, we will continue to be in the government. Ministers won’t even talk with him”, she said.
The Congress has red-flagged the minister’s statement. State Congress spokesperson J.P. Dhanopia has lodged a complaint with the chief electoral office saying that the minister’s statement was a blatant violation of the election model code of conduct. He said that the minister has threatened the voters and tried to lure them – both of which are unacceptable.
