Uma Shankar Gupta supporters allegedly try to grab land for constructing temple

BHOPAL : Dumping of construction material in the name of repairing a platform at Shymla Hills, adjacent to the police station, where idol of Goddess Durga will be installed generated heat among two sections of people on Saturday.

Following this, police force was deployed there to avoid any communal tension.  A section said the action is by Hindu outfits and supporters of revenue minister Uma Shankar Gupta to prepare ground for construction of a temple there. If they are allowed, it will be difficult to stop them later.

According to Shyamla Hills police, the repairing caused confusion among some people that the ground is being prepared for constructing a temple.  Police force who rushed to spot sorted out the issue and allowed repairing of the platform.


Dumping construction material in name of repair causes tension

Corporator Sabista Sultan said, “Supports of revenue minister Uma Shankar dumped the construction material in the name of repairing the platform. In fact, a platform is already constructed there and idol of the Goddess Durga is installed there. The platform is constructed on a private land and is used by different religion. But some local politicians with hidden agenda tried to prepare the ground for temple construction as it is a huge plot at prime location. We informed the police and ADM GP Mali rushed to spot and we succeeded in spoiling their move.”

ADM Mali said, “It was just confusion among some people. There is already a concrete platform for the installation of Goddess Durga’s idol. However, we intervened in the matter and pacified them. Repairing is being done for the installation of the idol as every year.”
