Siddhanta Hospital to tie-up with Medanta Medicity


Move to help smoothen process of organ transplants

BHOPAL : City’s Siddhanta Hospital and Medanta Medicity of Gurgaon will have a tie-up for organ transplant. Dr Subodh Varshney, medical director of Sidhhanta said, “Siddhanta Hospital will be shifted to E-6 in its own building which will be fully equipped. It will be like a tie-up between Siddhanta and Medanta Medicity, Gurgaon. Medical experts will be easily available at our hospital.”

Commenting on joint venture with Red Cross, Dr Varshney said, “We are facing space crisis here and it is main hurdle in smooth organ transplant. So we will shift within next four to five years in E-6 behind Asha Niketan. It will be our own building. We will have proper and easy links with Medanta Medicity and this link will be just like smooth corridor for all kind of organ transplantation like liver, heart, kidney, pancreas etc.”

Dr Varshney said, “There must be some celebrities as brand ambassadors to motivate public for organ transplant. Right now, the condition is pathetic. Nearly one lakh people end up being brain dead every year and only 500 people agree to donate organs.  We have to motivate people for it.”

Organ donation should be promoted: Dr Narendra

Dr Narendra Chaudhary, Medanta Medicity, said, “People will have to be motivated for more and more organ transplantation in the country. People should come forward as before death he can give life to eight persons.”

Liver transplant costs minimum Rs 20 lakh

Liver transplant costs minimum over Rs 20 lakh. Recently, liver was brought from Jabalpur by a chartered plane and it cost Rs 4 lakh. Rs 17 lakh is actual transplantation cost. So overall, it was Rs 21 lakh expenditure, Dr Varshney added.
