SHIVPURI : A quack set up his shop without any permission just outside the Aaganwadi Centre of Ward Number 16. He was accompanied by four of his associates and he took money from many persons in return for dubious medicines.
When media persons reached there, he made good his escape. The ‘doctor’ provided the patients medicines after charging Rs 800-1000 from them. Gayatri Kushwaha, a worker at the Centre said that the Centre supervisor Madhu Yadav had given permission for the “medical camp”. The doctor’s name is said to be Rajpal. He performed medical check-up of more than a dozen poor families and gave them Ayurvedic medicines of a company called International Marketing Corporation. There is no known company manufacturing Ayurveda drugs of that name.
He had put up a cash counter also, from where medicines were being sold. When confronted, he immediately started winding up his shop. He even returned the money charged from some patients. When DP Pande, district project officer of Woman and Child Development Department was asked about it, he gave evasive replies. He handed over the phone to CDPO Sanjeev Khemaria, who said the permission had been sought for a free medical camp. He said that the issue is being probed.
