Mangalsutra breaks, miscreant flees with pendant

BHOPAL : A bike-borne miscreant fled with the pendent only as the mangalsutra of a 35-year-old woman broke into pieces while he was snatching it from her neck.

The miscreant snatched the gold mangalsutra while she was strolling on her campus at Vivekananda Nagar under Piplani police station area along with her neighbour. The police said complainant Sangeeta, 35, wife of Rajkamal, resided at 169-Rajat Nagar, Piplani. Her husband worked in a private firm and she was a housewife. The incident took place at around 8.30 pm on Friday while she went for an evening walk with her neighbour. While they reached in front of house number 101-Vivekananda Nagar a bike-borne accused came from behind and snatched her mangalsutra. In the loot bid the mangalsutra broke and the accused fled with the pendant in his hand. IO PL Yadav said there was a CCTV camera fitted in the house of Shrivastava family, who resided close to the spot but nothing much was captured in the camera due to darkness. The police are also scanning the footages of cameras installed in other houses.
