BHOPAL : The demand for giving charge of the State Congress to former Union Minister Kamalnath is gaining momentum.
Deputy Leader of Opposition Bala Bachchan, interacting with on Thursday, interacting with journalists in state Assembly, said Congress will benefit if Kamalnath is made State President.
Jaivardhan Singh, son of former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, said he is ready to work under the leadership of anyone who is given charge of the party. Singh said Kamalnath is like his father to him. He had played a key role in 1993 in his father’s appointment as Chief Minister.
MLA Harsh Yadav too advocated handing over command of the party in the state to Kamalnath. Congress MLAs have also begun demanding that Kamalnath be made State Congress President. Earlier, MLA Tarun Bhanot had set the ball rolling by raising the demand.
The MLAs, unhappy with State Congress President Arun Yadav, are pressing on Nath be made State Congress President.
A delegation of Congress MLAs, after Assembly session, may meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi demanding change in the leadership of the party in the state. Not only the Kamalnath-supporter MLAs are making the demand but the MLAs who belong to camp of Digvijay Singh are also not in favour of Yadav to continue. Govind Singh and Arif Aqueel too have supported Bachchan.
The demand for change in State Congress President has gained momentum after Congress lost Assembly bye-polls in Maihar. Leader of Opposition Satyadev Katare is not keeping well. In this situation, Congress MLAs are demanding new appointments on these two posts.
